Sharon’s inspiration to help people lose weight stems from her own struggles with obesity, diabetes, emotional eating, fatigue, and low energy, which she battled for over 25 years. Like millions, she tried many weight loss diets only to regain the weight after stopping them.

She successfully lost 20 kgs of stubborn fat in just 6 months and was able to stop her diabetes medication. This transformation elevated her self-confidence, self-love, energy levels, and overall outlook on life. She has already helped over 100 people not only lose weight but also achieve holistic and sustainable health.

In her program, Sharon targets the root causes of obesity through her 3 Step Weight Loss Framework and her Weight Transformation Journey Blueprint, both are scientific and proven methods for sustainable fat loss.

 

Sharon works as a consultant with Transform Rural India, part of the Strategic and Programme Assistance Unit for DAY_NRLM, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. She provides policy and strategic support to achieve 1 lakh+ annual income for 8 crore+ rural women in SHGs, designs and drives “The Prajjwala Challenge,” and leads capacity building for SRLMs and local functionaries.

 

Previously, she worked with Hand in Hand India, overseeing projects in North Indian states and building partnerships for new programs. She also served as a technical advisor at Deutsche Gesellschaft fĂĽr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and has extensive experience with organizations like Vodafone Foundation, Child Rights and You (CRY), SRIJAN, and PRADAN

Q. What inspired you to take fitness seriously?

My inspiration to take fitness seriously stemmed from my painful journey with obesity. At one point, I weighed nearly 100 kilograms and faced numerous health issues, including fatigue, low energy, cravings for sugary sweets, and eventually type II diabetes. I was on the verge of developing glaucoma, but fortunately, I was diagnosed in time to save my vision. Despite trying calorie-restrictive diets and intense exercise routines, I found little success. It left me feeling demotivated and frustrated, and the impact began seeping into my professional and personal life.

 

I desperately wanted to “look good,” “wear the clothes of my choice,” and above all, “feel healthy.” Over time, I became a victim of the emotional side effects of obesity—self-hatred, lack of self-belief, emotional eating, anxiety, and possibly even depression. As my stress levels increased, so did my weight. I sought solace in food, relying on the dopamine effect of my favourite foods for temporary relief. However, this was only a fleeting comfort, and after indulging, I would blame myself for giving in to my emotional eating habits.

 

There came a point when I lost all hope and believed I had to live with my situation for the rest of my life. This emotional turmoil began affecting my professional life as well, leading to self-doubt, an inferiority complex, and a tendency to blame myself for everything negative that happened.

 

My turning point came when I joined the “Passionpreneur Movement” by Dev Gadhvi, who has learnt from his mentors like Sifu Dan Lok and Tony Robbins, undergone Vipasana several times and is on a mission to transform 1 billion lives. I am a part of Dev Gadhvi’s inner circle community, and I dedicate my mental and emotional transformation to what I have learned during this time. In one of the sessions, we were asked, “What is your purpose in life? What are you passionate about? What would you love to do? How would you like to change lives? What impact would you like to bring to people’s lives?” I realized I had no answers.

 

I still felt a vacuum despite spending almost 22 years in the social development sector, working at the grassroots, funding, and policy levels. I struggled to find passion in my work and couldn’t associate my answers with what I had been doing for years. Then, a statement during the program struck me deeply: “Most movements emerge from the injustice or pain that someone has felt, and these movements are there to bring about a change in that inequality of pain.” The examples of Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, and Nelson Mandela resonated with me.

 

I realized that the pain I had endured due to obesity wasn’t just physical but also emotional and mental. That’s when I decided to create change not only for myself but also to help others overcome the complex pain of obesity. I decided to lead by example, demonstrating the changes I advocated.

 

I knew the effectiveness of the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting for physical weight loss, and I spent months studying and understanding these areas to develop a holistic solution. I also earned a “Keto and Intermittent Fasting Coach” certification from Dr. Eric Berg, DC. I studied intermittent fasting through Dr. Jason Fung, MD’s training and books, both pioneers in their fields.

 

I deeply understood that weight loss is not solely about shedding pounds but achieving a holistic transformation. It’s about losing weight from your mind, heart, and body. Through practices of gratitude, meditation, affirmations, and a comprehensive approach, I overcame my emotional and mental struggles. I found the best solution for physical weight loss by combining keto and intermittent fasting with exercise.

 

Today, I am on a mission to transform 1 million lives by advocating for a comprehensive approach to well-being that encompasses emotional and mental health alongside physical health. This holistic transformation is about looking good and feeling good, inside and out.

Q What kind of pushback did you encounter from family and friends during your fitness journey?

Whenever you aim to bring about change through unconventional methods, it is initially met with resistance. This is true for any new idea or disruption that challenges widely accepted norms.

 

Today, also, despite remarkable and proven results through keto and intermittent fasting, society is very resistant. And I don’t blame them. The reason is the lack of the right knowledge and factual information.

 

Initially, there was resistance (and still is among some friends and relatives) to my approach to weight transformation, as obesity is taken quite casually and associated mostly with “the way we look.” It’s only lately that the importance of mental and emotional well-being is being felt and promoted as an important aspect of healthy living.

 

I feel blessed to have the support of the person who matters the most in my life, my husband, Iqbal. He not only supported me in my journey, but today, he is also a living example of the wonders that keto and intermittent fasting can have. He has always told me one thing, which even my mentor Dev Gadhvi says—YOU ARE THE BRAND! This one statement always comes to mind whenever I feel low or demotivated.

 

My two handsome dudes – my sons – Abdullah and Mujtaba are also my inspiration and strength. I am blessed to have a supportive family environment for pursuing my passion and mission.

Q. How did you overcome the naysayers to sustain your passion for fitness?

During my journey, I realized how much of a burden I was carrying from my past failures and traumas, which were a complete roadblock for me to think positively about my ability to bring about a larger change. These traumas are deeply rooted in our unconscious mind, and we are unaware of them. To achieve any success in life, whether it’s about weight loss or becoming a successful entrepreneur, it’s very important to overcome this pain and let go of the negative past experiences and traumas completely.

 

Overcoming naysayers required a strong belief in my vision and a dedication to showing results. I focused on setting clear, purposeful goals and nurturing a positive mindset. By practising self-love and challenging my limiting beliefs, I created a powerful narrative that others could not ignore. I shared my journey openly, demonstrating how mental clarity and emotional health positively influenced my physical transformation, thus gradually changing their perceptions.

 

Sometimes, people say you are still not completely fit. And I say, yes, it’s a journey. I have walked many miles and can see my goal very near. But should I hold on to reach the top of the mountain alone? Or should I take as many people along as I can to celebrate victories together? Wouldn’t it make my journey more meaningful and satisfying?

Q. How are you inspiring others around you to embrace fitness?

Through my approach, I set an example for myself and those who have achieved remarkable transformations. It’s important to inform people about my journey and work; social media is an excellent source for spreading the word.

 

Holistic weight transformation is a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. I encourage my mentees to set clear, meaningful goals and cultivate a mindset of self-compassion and resilience. I inspire them to overcome limiting beliefs and foster self-love. And most importantly, I educate them on the science-backed facts about keto and intermittent fasting as the foolproof method to burn body fat. Not only fat loss, these methods have helped many people revert their metabolic syndromes such as hypertension, high cholesterol and type II diabetes to a great extent, which is not possible through medications alone.

My approach is clear: “Don’t lose weight to become healthy. Become healthy and lose weight,” which is an inspiration I got from my coach, Dr. Eric Berg.

 

In my signature “12-week weight transformation program,” I help people adopt the holistic approach that I advocate. I inspire my clients to meditate, give gratitude and positive affirmations, and seek support for emotional well-being. I also use the proven methods of fat loss through a combination of keto and intermittent fasting.

 

As I said, it’s a continuous journey of learning for me as well, and I focus on my own personal development. I believe in gaining more knowledge and becoming a better version of myself each day.

Q. What common myths about fitness would you like to debunk?

A prevalent myth I would like to debunk is that exercise alone can achieve weight loss. Exercise is good for overall health, and I greatly advocate for exercising in any form. But when we refer to physical transformation, my focus is on fat loss, which is dependent 80% on dietary intervention and 20% on exercise.

 

One of the most important misconceptions I want to dispel is the notion that consuming fat leads to weight gain. The truth is, the main culprits behind weight gain are sugar in all its forms, ultra-processed carbohydrates like processed foods and refined grains, and hydrogenated refined oils that have become a staple in our modern diet. These are the foods that our bodies convert into fats, leading to accumulation in our vital organs and the result of major lifestyle diseases such as type II diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart problems, and even cancer.

 

I am happy that lately, there has been a lot of information being spread through social media and research about the harmful effects of these foods that we consume every day.

 

Another misconception I’d like to address is the belief in quick fixes and calorie-restrictive diets as effective long-term solutions for weight management. Weight gain is a gradual process that occurs over years, and it’s important to approach weight loss with the same understanding. Consistency and a clear, realistic goal are key to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

  1. Energy food you recommend the most

Healthy Fats, Protein Rich Diet and Lots of Good Carbohydrates in the form of Green and Cruciferous Vegetables.

 

2.Food you must avoid at all costs:

Ultra Processed and Refined Carbs, Sugar (including fructose-rich foods) and Hydrogenated/ Refined Vegetable Oils.

 

3.  5 must-have things at home to get you started:

a) Healthy fats – olive oil/ mustard oil/desi ghee, butter (mainly monounsaturated and saturated fats)
b) Lots of green leafy and cruciferous vegetables
c) Naturally occurring Protein sources like chicken, fish, seafood, eggs, mutton etc. (unprocessed)
d) Plant-based protein or dairy like paneer, cheese, and tofu. A big no to soy-based protein products as these are also processed carbs
e) A Big Dustbin – to clean your environment of all the ultra-processed and refined food products that are detrimental to your weight loss journey.

 

4.Your advice for 40-plus women?

Your biological age should never become a roadblock. You are the Queen of your life and can achieve whatever you can.

 

5.Quick snack to keep in your bag?

I firmly oppose “Snacking” as a habit, and one must eliminate it. I feel that the term “Healthy Snack” is also an oxymoron because snacking is one of the primary causes of obesity. But if someone cannot control their craving to eat something, nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, peanuts) and seeds are the best options.
