Q. How do you think technology can help with women’s issues related to the gender pay gap, lack of political representation, and workplace discrimination? Could you tell us more about your work in gender-based violence through an online platform? What is the profile or background of women using this platform?

Technology plays a major role in shaping our society and its evolution. Adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), like any other technology, has it’s own pros and cons.

While AI can be used to help remove gender bias at any workplace by bridging gaps in compensation, promotion, discrimination in all vertices. It can also have impact on redefining political landscape of a region, if used with said intent.

Having said so, it’s not very encouraging to learn that few big names used AI to promote inclusivity. However, the AI project was scrapped due to biased input data of past years.

Social Media can be used to address gender based violence at home or public places, while we assume most at workplace are handled and given justice to at any workplace having strong HR policies.

One of my personal initiatives, as Jannayak Janta Party Women Cell executive, has been to address the silent sufferers of domestic violence. We are a team of 8 volunteers who provide personal, professional, child and relationship counseling to domestic violence victims. Its focussed on women, but not limited to, as they usually find themselves in hard time with kids and no earnings.

We have also helped men as well, in cases where women are trying to suppress them for monetary gains. Our team includes professional healers, counselors and few lawyers who provide free services as part of CSR activities.

The support group word spreads via word of mouth and also social media platforms where we have good followers in individual capacities.

The Process:

  1. The support seekers connect with me on my mobile or email ID.
  2. Based on their situation, I then invite the required counselors and the seeker on a zoom call that usually lasts for 3 hours. The person is free to maintain identity secrecy while on zoom call.
  3. Based on the discussion and further support needed, the person is is connected with the right set of counselors which is all free and no charges are asked.

The Government Twitter handle post my tweets to @casesgurgaon for extending support to all.

Q. In your career trajectory, having worked with esteemed IT firms such as Siemens and Oracle, followed by the initiation of your own venture, what influenced your shift into politics? At any point, did Silicon Valley dreams cross your mind?

I am a hard core believer of “Man proposes, God disposes”. We have dreams at young age which fizzle out somewhere in life’s hustle bustle and peer pressure, in short, we become part of rat race. The personal situations I found myself in while executing my winning business proposals, led me to introspect about the purpose of my life. Covid played a major role in sorting out my priorities.

The support I extended in a personal capacity during Covid, had press media cover my story along with whose who of the nation. This also enticed many political parties to approach me to join them.

Volunteer groups involving members from different walks of life — from IT professional to college students & IPS officer — are helping Covid patients get what they need.

Having planned sort of an early retirement from the cut throat competition we find ourselves in any industry, I was well sorted with my finances, which played a major role in decision making. Having no liabilities and enough assets to lead a carefree and simple life, I took a plunge in politics with the intent of getting a platform to further do social service. There was no looking back.

Having in depth know how of technology industry and political landscape, I intend to extend my expertise in big projects from Silicon Valley for investments in the state.

Q. As a National President of the Artificial Intelligence Council at the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WICCI), how do you perceive the changing world scenario on AI, its effects on various industry domains with regards to employment,
wealth creation & shaping a future where AI benefits society as a whole?

AI is both a boon and a curse. While it can help better human lives, it at the same time poses much harm. On one hand deep fakes and cyber frauds using AI poses huge threat to common man, on the other, AI can make customer care services a blessing with personalized support for each individual. AI is making a big impact in Pharma, Healthcare, Retail and Financial sectors, however not limited to these.

AI is already in news for taking away jobs of content creators with the invent of likes of chatGPT and its variants. AI, from business perspective, has witnessed the multifold profit generation and revenue increase due to replacement of humans with AI applications while churning out more customer orders.

It is all up to humans how to use AI ethically, or else the day won’t be far when super intelligent AI will be ruling humans creating their own laws of the land.

Q. Do you lean more towards consuming content or creating it? What are three talk areas you feel comfortable talking about and being a thought leader in that space?

The transition from consuming content to being a content creator has begun for me. If we focus on professional content being posted, most of it is focused on success stories. I would prefer content which an average employee can relate to. The content must motivate people to charter unknown fields, profiles and industries.

I myself have taken up various profiles in different technologies. While doing so, once, I had to struggle with mind blocks and it brought to surface my own weaknesses.

Each new profile added on to personal growth working on the skills required to master it.

I would feel comfortable encouraging people to remove mind blocks and may take plunge into new roles and ventures. Will be happy to extend support by connecting them with the mentors and probable employers.

Q. How do you tackle stereotypes and hardliners? Do you have any suggestions on mitigating conflict or crises through effective communication on social media?

In my nearly two decades of work experience as an employee, I did find a lot of fellow employees not able to handle other gender overshadowing them. In turn, they try hard to pull down. However this environment is driven from top leadership. Not each organization will witness stereotypes and hardliners in general, exceptions are there which are forced to mend ways. But organizations where the same is coming down from leadership needs a strong and vocal individual to cut the unasked for behavior right from the first instance, not allowing it to be repeated.

Almost all of the organizations I had been associated with had strong HR policies. It was never required to mitigate any conflict through social media.

Yes, voicing the opinion bluntly in first instant itself works wonders. While it’s Not advisable to report smallest of the incidents to the HR, addressing the person in logical ways and not getting personal oneself is the key to effective communication and discouraging the stereotypes.

I found myself very lucky that I was always encouraged by one and all, a few exceptions who didn’t matter, never mattered.

Rapid-Fire:

  1. What was the turning point in your life? Covid and people being clueless how to get government help.
  2. What motivates you to take on new and different roles? The anticipated challenges and overcoming them.
  3. How do you fight your inner battles? By Introspecting and being aware of mind blocks and self limiting thoughts.
  4. Which is the best conversation you have had on a TV Channel? Regarding penning the culprit in an hospital’s electricity outage resulting in suspension of the accused.

One-Liners:

  1. I want to be known for: caregiver
  2. It makes me happy when my starts with: My day starts with being blessed by someone I extended support.
  3. Artificial Intelligence is: Scary if not controlled ethically.
