In 2021, as an entrepreneur, I faced business struggles during covid. My husband succumbed to covid’s second deadly wave. Today, we are contemplating how the third wave will impact our business.
First of all, it is havoc in the job market, where retaining employees isn’t that easy anymore. While so many I know have quit jobs or been released, yet in the workplace, employees are demanding ever more, especially in the IT sector. How to work at an optimum level is the key?
The ease of working from home or preference to work from home is not an entitlement. Back-to-office is the entire project management to do. It’s not simple, and it needs a Communication wing, HR, Operations, and Finance intervention, above all. We lose money doing all this!
What we save on seats is not profit, but instead, the money we spend on maintaining the office building and providing remote collaboration on all fronts is even more. I’m on a new venture, but the maths to call regular employees to work is still not working out. So, the covid situation certainly has impacted the business dynamics.
The third wave is spreading wildfire from one to another, and taking risks is a big no at this hour. A whole project can be doomed if the project members are not keeping it well or have to deal with the covid situation at home. Empathy is a value that many companies adopt but now, talking of empathy, would you entertain requests which extend beyond employees and have to do with families of your employees.
Every business in every sector has a different story to tell on the business health and future of the company. To me, this time is the most precious in coming forth and taking your brand to higher levels through brand talk, dwelling on brand values, and sharing them online with your audience.
